With a fresh and modern redesign touting Sandals Ochi Beach Resort as the Caribbean Riviera’s trendiest new resort, it is no surprise that the resort’s grand opening was a star-studded event with everything from fire dancers to a magnificent fireworks show that lit up the sky! Guests were delighted to share in the new design aesthetic along with seven uniquely new Gourmet Discovery Dining options, a fresh, trendy Ochi Beach Club, reinvented resort entertainment, and upgraded luxurious accommodations. In attendance for these festivities included Dancing with the Stars star, Mark Ballas, and The Bachelorette’s Desiree Hartsock!
Grand opening night was just that, grand! With a performance by the Tony Wilson Dance Company, performing Calabash: A Kaleidoscope of Beauty, Passion and Power, speeches from Jamaican notables like Prime Minister, Portia Simpson-Miller and an after party at the Sandals Great House Pool featuring DJ Tracy Young – this was the place to be and be seen! You know what they say, after the show is the after party and after the party is – you guessed it – Shaggy. The Jamaican-born American reggae fusion singer and deejay delighted the crowd with his hit classics "Boombastic", "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel", as well as his new hit, “I Need Your Love”.
If you think that’s enough, just wait – there’s more! Throughout the grand opening event, everyone enjoyed drinks and live entertainment at one of Sandals Ochi Beach Resort’s newest Gourmet Discovery Dining options and the Caribbean’s first Speakeasy, The Rabbit Hole; Island Routes Catamaran Cruise, setting sail during the brilliant Caribbean sunset; and to join the Sandals Foundation at Boscobel Primary School in Ocho Rios, Jamaica for a Dedication Ceremony of the New Computer Lab. A FULL weekend, indeed!
After a grand opening like that, with an official ribbon cutting, the evening proved the resort’s standing as the region’s newest and chicest hotspot!
