Sandals Negril and Sandals Grande Riviera Awarded Earthcheck Platinum Certifications

We are absolutely thrilled at the news that two resorts, Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa and Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort, have both been recognized for their environmental efforts by EarthCheck, which has awarded both resorts with a Platinum level certification. This exciting news means that Sandals Resorts the only hotel company in the world to receive two Platinum Certifications.
So what exactly does Platinum certification mean, you ask?EarthCheck, a leading environmental certification and benchmarking organization, has confirmed that both resorts have consistently demonstrated their commitment to host communities and high standards of environmental care over a period of ten years or more.
Sandals Negril first earned Platinum certification in 2008 and earned its Platinum re-certification this year. This is the inaugural Platinum certification for Sandals Grande Riviera, which recently completed a nearly $60 million expansion and renovation project. Sandals Negril and Sandals Grande Riviera have now joined an elite number of organizations around the world in achieving the highest level of EarthCheck Certification.
In July of 2011, Sandals Resorts International underlined its sustainability credentials by launching a new environmental management program entitled, Sandals Earthguard powered by EarthCheck.
