Sandals Caribbean Cay: through the eyes of Ellena Boucher, our Social Media Guru

Hi El, tell us a little about yourself...

Hi! I am the Social Media Executive for Sandals Resorts UK and I have been with the company for two years. I have been lucky enough to visit 11 out of the 15 resorts across the Caribbean - I still can't believe that I've landed such an amazing job! I am fairly new to the industry, but my love of travel has helped shape my plans for our social media channels and the content we share with our guests. I've been fortunate enough to travel the world but there's nothing like the warmth of a "Sandals" welcome when you arrive at a resort.

When did you last visit Sandals Caribbean Cay?

I last visited the resort in February 2020 on a group influencer trip. Our mission was to create content to share with returning and new guests on our social media channels. I was staying down the road in Sandals Montego Bay and with our “Stay at 1, Play at 2” exclusive exchange programme, I was able to dine and use the facilities at Sandals Caribbean Cay for the day.

What is your favourite thing about this resort?

It would have to be the premium room categories on the property. You may have heard of our Over-the-Water Bungalows, but Sandals Caribbean Cay is EXCLUSIVELY home to our Over-the-Water Villas– which boast their own swimming pool and look out onto miles of stunning ocean views. They truly are the height of luxury.

What are your top 3 tips when staying at Sandals Caribbean Cay?

I am a massive foodie, so experiencing all the 5-Star Global Gourmet™ dining options when in-resort is one of my favourite things to do. I highly recommend hopping on the boat to the offshore island and spending the evening in Royal Thai. The food is fresh and flavoursome, and the restaurant is one-of-a-kind. Be sure to order the Gai Satay Marinated Chicken Skewers, they are delicious.

Spend the whole day on the private Offshore Island. It will feel like you have two resorts in one, with a completely different world just moments away by boat. The location boasts 2 beautiful white-sand beaches and its own swim-up bar.

As I mentioned, Sandals Montego Bay is included in our “Stay at 1, Play at 2” exclusive exchange programme. Within a 5-minute free shuttle ride, guests can explore a further 12 restaurants, enjoy a cocktail at Latitudes° Over Water Bar and take a dip in 7 additional pools.

What health and safety measures have been implemented at Sandals resorts due to Covid-19?

For 40 years, Sandals Resorts have adhered to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety protocols. Our resorts have always been meticulously cleaned and sanitised every hour of every day. But now more than ever, our existing industry-leading practises have been enhanced to include several pre-emptive cleanliness measures, guaranteeing guests the peace of mind to enjoy their holiday with the utmost confidence.
