Top Travel Tips for Sandals Halcyon Beach: A Sandals Staff Review

This month we spoke to Business Development Manager, Gary, about our Resort of the Month for June, Sandals Halcyon Beach in Saint Lucia. Read on to hear what Gary thought about his most recent visit to this resort, including his favourite things about the resort, and some top tips on things to do in Saint Lucia whilst at this resort.

Recently renovated Sandals Halcyon Beach is home to the longest river pool in the Caribbean

1.      Hi Gary, tell us about yourself?

I have worked with Sandals for 20 years this year as a Business Development Manager. It’s been an amazing journey; I have had the chance to visit many of the resorts and even been lucky enough to have flown in Mr Stewart’s Private Jet.

I have 2 wonderful children, Blake & Tia & our favourite family holiday destination is Beaches Turks & Caicos, where dreams do come true and there are so many activities for the whole family to enjoy.

2.      When did you last visit Sandals Halcyon Beach in Saint Lucia?

I visited Sandals Halcyon Beach in October 2019, on a work trip with a fab group of Travel Agents. It was a great chance to see the new updates to the resort which have made it even more luxurious than it was before. We also got the chance to visit the nearby Sandals St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate while we were there and see the renovations being done there too to bring it up to the Sandals standard.

3.      What is your favourite thing about this resort?

The new Crystal Lagoon Rooms & Suites & the Butler Rooms with their private pool sanctuary. Mind you, the recently refurbished rooms and restaurants are all stunning. The investment in the resort shows Sandals foresight & investment in the future. When international travel is going through its most challenging time ever, Sandals are sending a massive positive vibe and feeling that travel will bounce back, even better, with our investment in new resorts, new concepts, and refurbishments.

The Beachfront Honeymoon Butler Room with Private Pool Sanctuary boasts its own private pool as well as Butler Service for an ultra-luxurious stay

4.      Can you name us your top 3 tips whilst staying at Sandals Halcyon Beach?

1)     It's a beautiful & peaceful low-rise resort, with stunning gardens & grounds. It has one of my favourite room types, right on the beach, the Beachfront Club Level Walkout room with Tranquility Soaking Tub. Be sure to book this category and simply relax in the tub with the one you love and listen to the sound of the waves on the beach.

2)     Sandals Halcyon Beach has one of my favourite restaurants, Kelly’s Dockside, a beautiful location to dine, set over the water. Don’t leave without dining here and trying a few of the delicious dishes on offer.

3)     Also, be sure to make the most of the ‘Stay at one, play at all’ exchange programme too which allows you to visit the other 2 Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia, Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Grande St Lucian and enjoy all the great amenities on offer at these resorts included in your stay.*

One of Gary's favourite restaurants, Kelly's Dockside, is perched above the Caribbean Sea

5.      What can you tell people about the health and safety measures put in place due to COVID-19?

We follow a strict Platinum Protocol of Cleanliness in resort. We have our hygiene protocol, an 18-touch point practice, from the arrival at our airport lounges to our spas & swimming pools, to name just 3. Then we also have our 12 suite cleaning touch points. I would actually feel safer in resort than being out & about in the U.K.
