Sandals Grande Antigua: through the eyes of Linda Bailey, UK & EU Sales Manager

Hi Linda, tell us a little about yourself...

This September I will have worked for Sandals for 19 years! Having worked my way up through the ranks, I am now one of the UK & EU Sales Managers. I have been very fortunate to visit all of the Sandals resorts on numerous occasions, be it with work or on my own holidays.  I am passionate about the Caribbean, and even more so about the resorts and the Sandals brand. They are the World’s Leading All-Inclusive Resorts after all. You could say Sandals runs through my veins! I do enjoy visiting other parts of the world, but I now class the Caribbean as my second home. I just can’t help returning year after year for the stunning scenery, vibrant culture, and warm Caribbean hospitality.

When did you last visit Sandals Grande Antigua?

I have been very lucky and travelled to Sandals Grande Antigua approximately 15 times now. My last visit to the island and resort was on a work trip about 3 years ago. It was quite a whirlwind visit and we only stayed for a couple of nights, but the resort looked as spectacular as ever and we got to experience some of the amazing facilities and amenities on offer.

What is your favourite thing about this resort?

There are so many…do I have to narrow it down? If I had to pick just one, it would definitely be the stunning white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters. The resort is located on Antigua’s most famous beach, Dickenson Bay, so if you are a beach lover like me, you really will be in complete paradise! However, if the beach isn’t your thing, the resort also has 6 pools to choose from - including the Eastern Caribbean’s largest zero-entry pool, complete with a swim-up pool bar, perfect to refill your favourite cocktail.

What are your top 3 tips when staying at Sandals Grande Antigua?

1: Choosing the right room to suit your preferences: Sandals Grande Antigua has two villages – the Caribbean Beachfront Village and the Mediterranean Oceanview Village – both of which boast unique and well-appointed rooms and suites. My personal favourite is the Beachfront Rooms in the Frangipani Building, located within the Caribbean Beachfront Village.

2: Enjoy a meal at Barefoot by the Sea: This restaurant serves up delicious fresh seafood, right on the beach. There is nothing quite like dining with your toes in the sand, listening to the sea lapping the shore, and enjoying that spectacular view.

3: Head to the Red Lane® Spa and enjoy a treatment^ (or two!): The spa at this resort is fantastic! They have an abundance of relaxing treatments to choose from, but I particularly enjoyed the reflexology. A perfect way to undo those knots after a long flight from the UK.

What health and safety measures have been implemented due to Covid-19?

For 40 years, Sandals Resorts have adhered to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety protocols. Our resorts have always been meticulously cleaned and sanitised every hour of every day. But now more than ever, our existing industry-leading practices have been enhanced to include several pre-emptive cleanliness measures, guaranteeing guests the peace of mind to enjoy their holiday with the utmost confidence.
